the fact that the second years are embarking to all corners of the world soon is setting us all thinking: where do we want to go for our third year? there are the places you'll go for the world renown education like harvard/ivy league/beida, for the experience like russia, for the language (if we have yet to master french by then we have to apply to a francophone country like switzerland), and for fun like korea/japan... there are so many possibilities! i love france but already i cannot wait to discover a new land, a new culture, a new language... except for now i can't set my mind on any single country.  hmmm where should i go?

these two weekends have been loaded with films: borat and bruno the previous weekend (he's smart and funny and brave, but why can't he choose also to bring out positive sides of human nature instead of just evoking the most negative and pessimistic sides with grotesque images and actions? :(), confessions of a shopaholic, le petit nicolas and the deauville asian film festival this weekend. living vicariously never loses its charm. :D

i have a dream... quite a random and far-fetched one, but i'd like to try being a journalist in new york some time. not for life, just for experience. perhaps this can be another option for my third year!

as for now, perhaps i should start paying attention to my economics of underdevelopment professor, who is trying to explain the inverse relationship between growth and inequality and the interconnectivity of joblessness and homelessness, to a class whose faces reflect computer screens tuned onto facebook and skype.

yawwwwwn it's my tenth hour of class my brain feels fried and i feel like running out in the cold.

HI FRIENDS my LG Flatron W2043S has encountered that ever famous LG 'power saving mode' problem; mine's in power saving before I even switch on my CPU, and when that happens the screen just remains blank and then attempts to switch off or restart the CPU fail. What should I do?? People advise to check power&data cables (which I have), or reinstall the graphics card (which I am greatly hesitant about, esp seeing as my graphics card is v expensive and I don't know where it is hidden). My PC is just sitting there on standby (as in the plug is switched on but the comp isn't) and my monitor is blinking its power-saving red light at me in defiance. Please help T___T

Zz also my plans to complete my SEP app have been completely foiled! Blast... alright tmr is absolutely my last day of dalliance oh goodness. Goodnight for now! Tmr bright and early I gotta pretend to be a traumatized/stressed person in need of counseling hahaha. I wish I were really getting counseling T__T;

No tuition tonight (HAHA x2), so actually by right I can go home... I'll go home soon. Left my thumb drive at home with my SEP essay draft gee -_- But I must finish up study plans etc so ah wells! Also must do history tonight!!!! <-- Exclamation Marks of Imperative

just when i thought i can be done with winter and rejoice with the migratory birds in the warmth of spring, look what happened.

NOVEMBER 1                                                                                     MARCH 14

bloody climate change. we're into our FIFTH month of winter and theres more radio broadcasts saying it will snow tmr. brother u know i dun live in alaska. obama pls settle smth faster before we all freeze to death.

and my teacher just told us this story:

"after 9/11, osama bin laden was trying to look for the next city to bomb. several options were explored: london, madrid, mumbai... then when one of his aides suggested beijing and passed him a photo of the city, he exclaimed, 'haven't we already bombed this?'"

black humour makes my day. oh oh yeah recently ive been trying to get unto facebook using a proxy that sorta works but is slow. so ive decided to logon to facebook lite instead. like coke lite, facebook lite is SUPPOSEDLY (note the word supposedly) a healthier option of the main thing, i.e. u can forget abt playing tower bloxx or mafia wars or restaurant city on there, not to mention the wretched farmville application where my precious farm got destroyed due to two months of inactivity.  but the good thing is, u can still upload photos (PLUS), view photos (PLUSPLUS), write on walls (PLUSPLUSPLUS) and read notifications (PLUSPLUSPLUSPLUS)! which is generally what i do on facebook all the time. im not that interested in sounding some random horn every 10 minutes in order to buy some virtual trap. im probably more interested in finding out whether cmf is attached or whether my OC is still in tekong.

theres this two students in my french class who are mildly irritating. apparently they got into the wrong class (the sch din know that they knew french beforehand) so they are like owning the class im in now and the teacher seems to have quickened her pace just to suit them both :S as a result all i hear is a string of obscure french and (occasionally) in the middle of it all, my name, to which i reply, "je ne comprends pas" (i dun understand). this is bloody ridiculous. if i dun get enuff time to digest my basics its not going to set me off on the right foot.

grahhh. here i shalt terminate my menopausal discourse. and return to read playboy

(p.s. may be going xi-an for qingming holidays! :D)

In his interview on Animal Farm's reception in HK, Ivan Heng said the play was probably one of the most physically demanding to be performed on a Singaporean stage... it truly embodied the idea of "the actor as athlete". MICHAEL MCCALLION OMG >_<; Incidentally, this morning was the first time I read a McCallion reading HAHA yay for the requirements of essay-writing

Quote from Mosaic that I like:
"Sometimes when your guitar screws up, it forces you to be more creative. I'm sick of art being so perfect." - Kelvin Tan of We Free Kings

Oh also the Thespis play, Almost Left Behind, was really good. I certainly enjoyed myself more than I expected to (sorry Darius =P). It was like... like installation art theatre!! So fun. We ate a 2-day-old macaroon for the camera cos we were bored. But we later got fed 'teabread' (fruitcake) and some very good chocolate-coated marshmallows mmm. I enjoyed myself =D

Today Darius told me his theory of energy, and said I am an energy radiator! Which made me a happy thing =D Also I was v happy at voice class today cos Laura and I did a great performance (in our opinions). Haha. Also upon Chris' advice I managed to rescue myself from looking like a complete skank, but it had the effect of me looking like an SPG instead =/ Talk about on the spot wardrobe adjustments rofl (which is just so me). I think SPG > skank though, the line is not that fine okay >.< *say I, defensively*

MY MOM WORKED WITH NAJOB SOIMAN TODAY AND SHE WAS SO IMPRESSED BY HIM AND SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHO HE WAS ROFLCOPTERWTFBBQ >___<;;

Just got back from Ben's gig at Blu Jaz, and I mustmustmust submit my SEP app by tonight, rahh >.<

An update!

Waah, I was reading m old blog entries. and I realized I'm really pessimistic. I only post about the bad stuff that have happened, and not the good stuff most of the time! Though the bad stuff are more fun to write about :P Let's me vent!

---

Mmm, haven't updated in forever! Kinda because I have another blog to upkeep now for CS3216 as homework :P Blaaah!
slyhc.blogspot.com
but I don't think you all will wanna read, because it's more school related :P

So I'm watching Survivor, and honestly, I;m glad they kept James. You know the unfortunate thing about James is that he is so big and physically strong, and that's what everyone relates him to - his strength. So when that gives out, they want him gone since he no longer holds that advantage. But if you listen to what he says carefully, he does make a lot of sense also. There are too much people speaking and trying to make decisions during their puzzles (a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth) and they should keep him quite simply because he is an asset in the puzzles - where they keep losing - for being the one who makes sense. Although I understand why they aren't listening to James since his tone is horribly aggressive. You don't wanna agree with him even if he is correct, haha. At first, I wasn't agreeing with him either till I re-watched. So yeah, Tom should go. Though I don't think they should get rid of Candice next if they are planning to. (but when Amanda said the old dude first, then Candice, I realized she is pretty dangerous herself too, but awesome at hiding it)

JT is completely stupid even if he thinks he thinks a lot. Honestly, I'd get rid of him next (unless I'm a minority and the merge is not in sight) since he is the one they can least count on to stick with the Heroes after the merge.

And Coach is wtf :P so funny xD

Can't wake for next ep. I reckon Russell is ganna find many more idols! The villains are plain stupid, b/c Russell is right - the idol is powerful if you use it correctly. People can say don't go after it, but heck, if you have it and offer to offer it to them when they need it, there will surely be some who will flip to your side (okay, it depends on your tribe, but it's pretty apparent in Villains). How can they be villains, man. LEAVE IT THERE LOL. One of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard in Survivor.

An unexpected night put me into a pleasant, deep slumber. From a old friend to and old friend, it never fails to put a smile across your face when you go into deep conversation about how life is and where you are now. It’s comforting knowing that there’s another friend out there rather than an accquiantace. I’ve missed you dear friend and that 3 hours talking was pretty great.

So today I'm having an off day and I finally get a chance to wake up late (8:25am to be exact) and then saunter out to have breakfast and then figure my day out. There's a ton of work that I need to clear but I don't want to start because I don't think I can finish much in the 24 hours I have.

And I start clearing up my room, putting all the ticket stubs, ID passes to things I did that are lying on my table and programme booklets into the boxes I store them with normally (I need to get a new storage system soon, it's starting to get overloaded but we'll wait till ORD).

Then I start to leaf through the contents.

It's interesting how every time I look through them, I get a straight train ride trip to all that I miss. I opened the box of Huang Cheng souvenirs and letters that I had; looked through all the notes that we wrote for each other, the paperwork and accounts, little presents we had and all the cards the juniors gave. I found the keychains we had; mine still reads "-high five-" and the "No Smoking" cone that Min Zhe gave me. And then I start to miss it all again, just like how Denchen was telling me that she had another bout of PhD the other day.

I flipped through all our Sec 4 graduation stuff, found Teck Kong's keychain presents to us, his form class. Then the Australian keychain that Sua Yu ([info]hystericwallaby) passed to me sometime in Sec 4 too popped up. I wish I'd saved a bottle we'd kicked around the back of the classroom, they often tended to be Pokka's Ice Lemon Tea bottles we'd finished drinking, or a chapteh that Yu En'd smash up somehow.

I found other bits of past that made me cringe and wonder, others that made me smile, like a badly embroidered pillow (ha, [info]theoxymoronic). I found an Instax photo as well, of Yufeng in a very embarrassing facial expression, (which I will pass to him soon :D)

Sometimes I wish time hadn't flown so fast.

...

This is where the big eyes go gaga over gadgets. )

I saw a wiki page on hip hop in Malaysia and flipped out. WTF HOW COME MALAYSIA CAN HAVE ONE AND SINGAPORE DOESN'T HAVE ONE?!?! ...then I discovered the focus of the hiphop was on music and not dance =(

Tbh I think Singapore hiphop dance deserves a wiki page now... growing so fast zomg

I swear, by this time next year I will be a damn dope dancer... so that I can take classes in NY or LA and not embarrass myself >.< At today's Blast! session I was still flailing around, ugh. Am training my brain to absorb steps faster =/

Also, I have to let go of rock music for the moment... so I shall, sigh. Well. It's not like I'm in a band anyway heh. Will also keep singing but am getting more into hiphop and R&B. It's just not feasible to pay attention to rock music AND hiphop dance ngyergh. I think I do have to force myself to focus on one thing >.< Also at this juncture I prefer hiphop to R&B... but Singapore (and the world) loves lyrical now so I am very sad. While the world goes in one direction, I hunt elsewhere for hiphop and animation styles x.x FML. HAHAHAHAHA

Oh noes the CBLC is closing! =( Time to save my SEP application, get out of here and get Ya Kun for dinner harhar
